21st at 10:00am: Bible Church - Craft Theme: Individual Pumpkin Pies
For everyone who wasn't able to make it...here's the recipe we used.
This makes a lot of pie mix, so invite several little friends over and dig in!
1 pkg vanilla pudding mix (big or small - I think we used the big)
1 can pumpkin puree (big or small - just depends how much you want to make! We used the big, "Easy" kind with the spices already in it)
1 1/2 c. milk
spices (if your puree doesn't have it already)
mini pie crusts
whipping cream
Mix the milk and pudding together until smooth. Add the pumpkin and mix well. Scoop into individual pie tins and either refrigerate or eat immediately! It's always better topped with whipped cream!
28th 9:00am-10:00am: Pool

Change of plans: we'll be doing felt wreath ornaments. We'll cover them with foam cutouts, glitter, etc. Please bring a wallet-sized picture of your child to be attached to the ornament.
Please leave a comment if you are going to be coming this week so Stacy knows how many wreaths to bring.
See you there!

18th from 10-4pm: FREE BOOKS FOR KIDS at the library! This isn't a playgroup activity, but an announcement that we wanted all families to know about. Make sure and take your kids to pick out one brand-new book per child. It's a great way to add some excellent books into your library. There are board books for babies and toddlers all the way up through chapter books for older kids to choose from.
23th at 10:00am: fun with boxes at the Bible church
If you were here last year when we did this, you'll remember how much fun the kids had on this day. Bring big boxes and small boxes - whatever is leftover from Christmas! We'll play in, on, and around them, then break them down and haul them off.
PREPARATION: bring boxes

Instructions for Flubber (Gak) from Sheri:
I found this at http://www.omsi.edu
In a small container, combine:
1-1/3 cup very warm water and 2 tsp. Borax
Stir until Borax is completely dissolved.
Set aside.
In a large container, combine:
1-1/2 cup very warm water, 2 cups Elmer's White Glue, Liquid water color (or food coloring), and glitter (optional).
Mix thoroughly.
Pour contents of the small container into the large container.
Mix well using your hands.
Lift and turn the mixture until it's fully combined.
Notes: If it sticks on hair, clothes or carpet use white vinegar to clean. Yields 6 children. Will last up to 2 weeks if stored in airtight container.
Instructions for Colored Rice from Sheri:
I found this at http://www.dltk-holidays.com
You can do this in a large ziplock bag, or in a container with a lid.
Add a healthy amount of food coloring to 2 tsp of rubbing alcohol.
Pour in about 3 cups of rice.
Shake well.
Pour onto a cookie sheet lined with wax paper or tin foil.
Let dry about 1/2 a day (I did it overnight).
Notes: Be careful as it is food coloring and it doesn't come out of clothes well.
